He does have some pretty high praise for them, but there are significant flaws in their design that might limit daily use...

i guess one of those being 800 dollars falling out of your ears when you flick your head too hard.

They actually maintain their position relatively well. But no, they're not exactly designed for "active use," so excessive movement probably doesn't gel too well with them...

I've used Sennheiser in-ears with a price tag of  €60-80 for years now, nowhere near the price tag of these, but what is the point of the removable cable? Sounds like (HA get it, "sounds like" ) adding an unnecessary weak point to the whole structure. And yes this is coming from someone that is sleeping with in ears sometimes. 

I do wonder what that microphone addon sounds like. At the price-point I'm at, the microphone is added as an afterthought and is usually shitty. Kind of remembers me of gaming headsets, a product group that suffers from the same problem.

Seems pretty good, I was looking for a cheap iem so I don't have to use my 64 audio A12 while walking around playing pokemon go.

So how does this compare to the $1000 SE846? I tried them once last year and I thought it was the best sounding earphones ever & for an extra $200 it does come with a lot more kit AND a detachable cable

While I can tell there is much love for Sennheiser, for far more expensive than is probably worth earbuds I can direct people to the AKG 3003i which retailed for a premium tag of $1499 that claims full reference quality. They fail in much the same way with a non replaceable cable and the headphone jack failing after normal use. Although this pair of headphones does fully "target" those with more cash then they know what to do with crowd. They are my best headphones (second hand, I didn't purchase them myself), since they are very high quality. I will admit less than 300 earbuds probably would sound similar then may make for a fun video :).

 

So if you wanted another video for Holy Sh$t then you could go there. Been watching for a while and just joined the forum for this post.

$800 is for in-ears...  I like Sennheiser but I just can't understand this.  Even if I have $800 to blow (well it's actually over 1 grand in canada), I still wouldn't buy this. You can get a PC for $800 ffs.

I do wonder what that microphone addon sounds like. At the price-point I'm at, the microphone is added as an afterthought and is usually shitty. Kind of remembers me of gaming headsets, a product group that suffers from the same problem.

I've been using Shure SE215 everyday for almost 3 years now and I can tell you removable cable is a huge advantage to have,especially on a pricey pair of iem/headphones. I had to replace my cable last week and it only cost me 10 quid for a new third party cable. Better than having to buy another earphones for 80-90 quid when the monitors are still in good condition. And no it will not add up as an unnecessary weak point if it's properly designed and it is usually free rotating hence minimising cable twisting.

They're 100% the best headphones i've ever listened to, hands down. Only complaint is lack of removable cable at the drivers and the ever so slightly harsh highs on tracks that are naturally sibilant or poorly recorded I guess, also possibly at low bitrate music. Other than that, the clarity is unreal and the bass is the tighest and deepest (insert sexual joke) i've ever heard. It makes the ie80's sound muffled and loose, almost like listening to an older generation Beats headphone in comparison to the ie800. Burn in definitely affected the sound signature for me, it dampened the harsh treble significantly imo, and gave the music a little more body and volume
