Hi,

I'm looking for a way to play games remotely over the internet whitout lag with good picture quality.

I have two pc-s:

- I have a desktop gaming pc in my dorm. (this would be the server\streamer pc wich I have games on)

CPU: AMD fx 8150 black edition 8 core

VGA: AMD HD 6970 2 GB

  RAM: 8 GB DDR3

  Internet: 25 mbit

-And I also have a low-end laptop in my home which is in an other town. This laptop is only good for internet and office work. (this would be the client pc wich I want to play games on over the internet)

Internet: 15 mbit

When I go home I cannot bring my desktop with me and in my home I only have a low-end laptop. Sometimes I realy get bored and I like to play on my desktop through my laptop over the internet when I'm in home.

Can anyone help me find the best solution?

(I've already tried Onlive, Streammygame, Teamviewer, Logmein and Slashtop and they didn't work out as I expected, exept for Splashtop wich only had a little lag and I was able to play games with it. The only drawback of Splashtop was that some games was realy hard to controll with it and I needed to pay for it monthly to use it over the internet and now I looking for alternatives)

CPU: AMD FX8 8150 Black Edition 8-Core 3.6 GHz Socket AM3+ Processor | Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-D3 (rev. 1.0/1.1) | RAM: Kingston HyperX DDR3 Memory 2x4GB 1333MHz (OC-d to 1866MHz) | GPU: Gigabyte AMD HD 6970 2GB OC (GV-R697OC-2GD) | Case: Cooler Master Elite 361 | Storage: Samsung 840 evo 120GB, 2TB 3.5-inch WD Green drive | PSU: Gigabyte 670W PSU | Cooling: Corsair Hydro Series H60 | Operating System: Windows 10 Pro

I just went and tried Onlive and wow that was horrible, the input latency is like 10x the worst vsync and they limit the bitrate of the video to about 6 megabit so it looks horrible.

Ive tried to do it with Teamviewer and splashtop, but there is just too much lag, would need a super fast ping to your home PC, which isnt here yet.  I mean anything above 50 ms of latency is usually considered unplayable. So if you find a place where your internet ping and wherever your playing from's ping combined is consistently less than 50 ms try it, but even then you may run into bandwidth issues. You may be able to play some games that are not real time or possibly some small games.

If you want get some free screen sharing apps and run some tests. I would be intrested in seeing which have the lowest latency. And you know what maybe you'll find something that works. If you do, you could do a forum article, I'm sure some people would interested and I cant find anything like it online (If you need help figuring out how to test PM me and I'll help you out). But there is no need if you don't want to.

I'd love to do this my self, but I'm really sorry to say that I don't think its possible yet. But maybe as we see internet infrastructure grow (slow as it is growing), maybe it will be possible in the near future. Hope that helps!
