How to stop windows 10 updates restarting pc randomly

An annoying feature of windows 10 (home) is that windows 10 updates without notifying the user and then restarts the pc out of the blue restarts the pc to complete the update without even notifying the user causing loss of data. My question is does windows 10 pro stop this from happening and/or is there any way to stop it in windows 10 home version? Thanks for any help
