For anyone who is knowledgeable on the topic, does anyone know what the country of origin is for "Balchun"?

Sounds kind of Eastern European. Maybe Polish or Bulgarian?

You could use a site like ancestry to maybe find out more about the name

If you're willing to speculate.

Balchun sounds like the anglicized version of the surname used in Lithuania "Balčiūnas" or "Balčiūn" for the root. If that fits to you, the etymology of that particular surname hails from "Baltas" or "White" in English.

That said, I'm only moderately familiar with slavic surnames, so it could be something from them as well. A lot of the surnames in the region are shared and it's not that easy to pinpoint them.
