Bottleneck Help

Hi I'm Chikoritâ.

I'm new to the forums.

Id like to know if my current set up will bottleneck my GPU/CPU

I've got the Asus GTX 1070 Founders Edition "brand new" haven't installed it yet but I'd like to know if this will be an issue first.

I've done a little research about this and the results are lets say out of 100% - 50% say yes and 50% say no.

My current set up is :

CPU - i5 4690k (OC to 4.3Ghz) (H110i GTX Crosair 280mm Watercooler)
GPU - GTX 770 OC Edition
RAM - DDR3 16GB Crosair Vengeance Pro Series CL9 XMP Duel Channel
Motherboard - MSI Gaming 5 z97
Monitor - Asus 144Hz VG248QE
OS - Win 10 1511

New Setup: (Only the GPU Changed)

CPU - i5 4690k (OC to 4.3Ghz) (H110i GTX Crosair 280mm Watercooler)
GPU - Asus GTX 1070 Founders Edition
RAM - DDR3 16GB Crosair Vengeance Pro Series CL9 XMP Duel Channel
Motherboard - MSI Gaming 5 z97
Monitor - Asus 144Hz VG248QE
OS - Win 10 1511

Hey thanks for the replies guys, I guess now its time to upgrade. :)

As soon I saw the i5-4690K, NO. Unless you're going to play RTS (assuming 1080@144hz) or Crysis 5, you should be fine.

Edit: Playing some of my real-time strategy games on 980 Ti, my CPU only hits about 40-44% save for the Total War franchise where the amount of sprites and calculations is ridiculous.

Shouldn't be bottlenecked at all. The 1070 and i5s are very good combinations

it depends on the things you're doing

but for most of the games, probably wont be an issue

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

I would say in 90% (and probably even more ) games and whatever, your i5 isn't going to bottleneck that 1070 :D

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

Right now i'm just planning on playing League of legends, Overwatch. So I should be fine then. Thanks :)

League can run on most iGPU's with no issue and Overwatch is easy on the CPU as well.

Yep on my current setup those 2 are running fine. I am planning on playing other content as well such as Tomb Raider, Black Ops. Elder Scrolls Online, Blade and Soul
