I don't know if this is the place to put this, but here it goes:

  • Mother Board - Gigabyte GA-Z97X- Gaming 7
  • CPU - Intel Core i5-4690K (Stock Cooler)
  • GPU - MSI GeForce GTX 960
  • PSU - Corsair CX600
  • Storage - WD Blue 1 Terabyte Hard Drive/ Patriot Blaze 128 GB SSD

Here is the Problem, My MB has a counter on it, which always says AO and I don't know what it's for, and sometimes it starts to say random numbers like 94, 87, etc... and then my computer restarts. I don't think it's overheating because this doesn't happen when I open up games like Fallout 4, Overwatch, League, or Rocket League. This mostly happens when I open up Youtube. Then again, it happens randomly, I've just seen it happen on Youtube like 4 times. My case has three case fans and it is placed on top of a desk. I don't know why this happens, can someone please help?

Sincerely,

Bunny

Make sure your power supply is properly cooled. It's got Over-Temperature Protection and it's only rated to operate at 30 degrees ambient (that's the temperature at the intake of the fan). Once the temperature threshold is exceeded it will shut itself down. Leaving the side panel off your case should help

Ok, look in event viewer like @Enderman suggested but also, is the fan on the PSU facing up in the case or down out the case?

Ok, looked at Event Viewer and the only error is "The Server {Some numbers I don't want to type} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout."

The fan is facing down

I've a feeling a restart because of a PSU issue would return a dump that says "power was cut".

On the other hand, would a shutdown because of OTP be accompanied by an immediate restart? I've a feeling it wouldn't.

This might help.

Celsius. 30C is 86F so I can see the PSU getting up higher than 86F in its intake what with the summer heat.

I looked at Windows Event Viewer, haven't seen any errors.

you're not looking for errors

you're looking for the last restart event which will explain WHY it restarted

just because a PC restarts doesnt mean there needs to be an error

Looked at everything, haven't seen anything really. And to be honest, I don't really know what I am looking for... Smart enough to build a computer, not smart enough to fix one.

you are looking for something similar to this

bandicam 2016-07-06 14-20-43-022.png

you find it by looking for all events near the time that the PC restarted

then looking for the event which says restart

then you look at what caused it

I saw a thread on here a couple weeks ago with the same symptom.

Turns out the OP had added a lamp to the same power strip as his computer.  When he relocated the lamp to a completely different outlet, the issue went away.

I've no evidence to suggest that's what's causing your restarts, but I think it's worth tossing out there.  Try unplugging everything from your outlet except the computer/PSU power cord and display power cord.

Hey there Bunny Money :)

In order to exclude the storage drives as the potential causes of the situation and to be on the safe side that your data is safe I'd start with e diagnostic test on both the SSD and the HDD. I'd get tools from the manufacturers' websites and see if the drives pass the tests. For the WD Blue that would be WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic

The numbers and letters that you see on the motherboard are actually error messages coming from the motherboard. You can check what they mean on the manufacturer's website or the motherboard's manual. This should guide you to where you should be looking for the potential problem.

@Enderman gave you some good suggestions to check out the Event Viewer so do post a screenshot of yours.

Doing a stress test and a memory test can show you if any of the hardware parts are failing when reaching 100% usage or if you are suffering from memory leaks so I'd do that.

Are you doing any type of overclocking?

Taking the motherboard and the PSU to a technician for a check is also a good thing to do.

If this helped you, like and choose it as best answer - you might help someone else with the same issue. ^_^
