While browsing the forums, I heard that the nvidia GTX 1060 would be announced 7/7 and released 7/14 at an MSRP of ~$250. This would be a direct competitor to the RX 480. Does anyone have estimates of the relative performance? I'm even considering getting one for my current rig.

Thanks so @Jacktastic-Mofo and @Starelementpoke for the information!

If it's announced on 7/7 then there's probably a non disclosure agreement in effect until then for everyone with knowledge of that and you can pretty much expect sometime between 7/7 and 7/14 to see your youtube feed filled with stuff about the card.

There's something cool here - you just can't see it.

That makes sense.

There are no exact numbers on actual performance however VideoCardz has a leak and they tend to be relatively accurate.

The information can be found here: but these are the charts.

Of course, there's no telling whether or not these are real but they very well could be.

If the charts are anything to go by, I'm not buying an RX 480. But then again, we'll have to wait for actual benchmarks for me to believe it.

Yup, it's rumored to come the 14th, so it's not a very long time to wait and see what it has to offer.

I'd have to disagree, I think it looks pretty dope. If it performs really well I'll be picking up that exact reference model as I need a blower style GPU in my 4U server chassis.

why did they have to go two-tone?

if the card had the same color scheme as the 1070 and 1080, it would be much better

The card has the same color scheme? Black and Grey, it's just made of plastic instead of metal. I think you're referring to how the plastic looks two different colors in the second picture?

Slightly faster but much more expensive.

Oh Nvidia, you just can't help yourself!

I dread to see the RRP for Australia since their cards suddenly become platinum the second they hit our shores.

None-scaled-to-zero charts are so common now it doesn't surprise me.  Of course, we're not fooled by it because we can math.  But some stockholder might be.

the charts a very skewed. $50 more for ~11% performance increase isn't extreme and the numbers are likely exaggerated.

Maybe these won't fry mobos though.... hehe. AMD is releasing a patch in a few days to combat the issue... somehow doing it thru software. More than likely somehow it will downclock or throttle the power limit if it surpasses a certain limit making the card slower.  Just guessing...
