I saw this project (no im not related to it whatsoever) and it caught my attention, it might not be the most portable way of using a full fledge desktop gpu but it appears to get the job done, i could see this as a way of using broken laptops where the screen doesn't work anymore and by plugging this in you could potentially use this as a desktop computer using a monitor, or maybe just adding a bit of more horse power to a pc.

it seems like a good option if you don't plan on using the laptop as a laptop anymore, unless you'd like to put the laptop gpu back where it belongs and then connect it all again, to after find yourself closing the back of the laptop every time you want to take it somewhere and leave the gpu stuff at home, sure this takes a bit of time but its actually not that bad of an option if you don't have one of the newer laptops with thunderbolt connection, and then spend all that money buying the razer core.

Is this basically a cheaper razer core? i know its not plugged in by thunderbolt like the razer core is (this product uses an mxm 3.0 slot)  but does this seem too good to be true?

Not a bad idea. Considering how much MXM GPUs are.

It just looks so ghetto though. All you really need is a MXM to PCI-E cable and that's kinda of it. (And a GPU and a PSU)

Price is a bit hight for what it is. There are other products like this that have been on the market for a few years now. The problem is that most laptops don't have a mxm slot, and those that do are normally large and heavy with fast gpu's build in already. You also have the problem that you need to take it all apart and that you need to cut a whole in the case and its not hot swap.

honestly im not suprised, devices similar to the razer core have existed for a few years and this one is pretty cheap but still its an old idea and razer is charging way to much for there version and there version only has official support for there laptops, am i suprised that razer is overcharging for a simple device, no who would be they do this frequently
