So, when I heard about the RX480 being $199 I got super excited and have been saving the money to get one, and now that I have the money I cant find one for $199 their all like $260 (I know about the 8gb model price being that, but I only need 4gb) hell NCIX even has one for a fucking outrageous $350. Where can I get one for $199??

No USD I was looking on ncixus and amazon.com and newegg.com

Price gouging. The 480 "seem" to have more stock compare to 1070 and 1080 on launch, but 1. It still not enough, 2. AMD is recalling it due to the PCI-E power problem so the stock is low -> the price become higher

Apparently the majority of cards available are the 8gb and thus they will be priced at $239 minimum.  Due to local taxes (depending on where you live in the world) and limited availability it will likely be a month or more before you see a $199 RX480.

And it looks like shit in my opinion. WHY NO BACKPLATE .~.

XFX has a backplate variant but obviously that costs more.

Do you think that the 8gb is worth the extra money, or does it not matter. I am running 1 1080p monitor @ 60hz and dont plan on getting more monitorr. my current card is a 270x with 2gb or vram.

In fairness it is a cheap card, backplates add unnecessary expense when your pitching at the value orientated consumer. Sure if you're paying 1080 money, a back plate is not an unreasonable expectation, but at 480 money not everyone will be willing to pay extra.

Even at 1080p 4 GB is starting to hurt. For the premium it's definitely worth going 8GB.

I would hold off on buying the 8gb.  There is a rumor that the 4gb model can have a bios flash to reach 8gb, mind you at a lower clock speed (but this is untested and hearsay at this point, so take with a tablespoon full of salt).  Yes 8gb is better, so if the 4gb can't be flashed then the extra 40 bucks is definitely worth it.

Nah, it's not true. Unlike cores, you can't possibly unlock more RAM since you can physically see how much RAM the card has.
