Need new CPU with RX 480

silvinodino

Wassup yall! Im purchasing the rx480 and would REALLY appreciate it if I can get some options to purchasing a new CPU. My current MOBO is a Crosshair Formula IV, im not sure if that makes a difference. Someone told me about my mobo not having compatible sockets with intel CPU's, im not sure. thanks guys!!

the best CPU you can get is a FX 9590 which is not worth it ,its not compatible with Intel CPU's i say go for a skylake or z170 platform from intel

That's a AMD Motherboard, get a new one if you want to use intel.

But for AMD, use the AMD FX-9590 as it's a little worse than an I5

That motherboard is not compatible with any socket other than AM3, which is most of AMD's sockets and all of Intel's sockets. AM3 is from 2009 so your motherboard is outdated and you should get a new build, but if you don't want to, here's 2 of the best CPU series you can get:

  • AMD Phenom II X6.
  • AMD Phenom II X4.

Ryzen 7 3700X / 16GB RAM / Optane SSD / GTX 1650 / Solus Linux

It's a AM3 socket, not a AM3+ socket.  It's not possible to use the FX-9590 on a AM3 motherboard.

Okay, what mobo do you guys recommend? Im looking at the i5 intel processor possibly. Not something to break the bank though. Im trying to keep budget  at $500 for the GPU/CPU and mobo
