Modmic 4.0 with Asus Z97-E board

Seireitou

So I've been doing some research about headphones, mics and the like. I just recently ordered a Hyperx Cloud II and while the mic isn't horrible (Mainly used for Some light Skype calls and CSGO comp) I was wondering how a ModMic 4.0 plugged into my Mobo would sound. Now I heard that if you get a cheap motherboard or something that the mic can sound like shit so would that be the case with my board? I used to have a Asrock Extreme6 with a probably better soundcard but who knows. So anybody know if this will cause that dreadful hissing and if so is there any cheap options I could use to fix it?

If you are going to buy a 40 mic I would get a snowball.

I have a Modmic and you can't get much better unless you go full studio style mic.

EDIT: Wait to see if there are any issues first.

ModMic can be overly sensitive to vibration of cable.

Its perfectly fine for PTT situation, but if you use it for voice activation or always on (skype calling for example) you may find it that every single bump on the cable will translate into thump in the microphone input.

You might want to look into headphones that are compatible with V-Moda BoomPro Microphone and use this instead.

Snowballs are bad anyways for having a dedicated mic. I don't think you should have an issue with the line in.

Yeah I watched a video of them, they don't seem to be made for being a gaming mic, not with you having to put the mic all up in your mouth... Looks more for a streamer or youtuber. In any case, I'll keep my HyperX cloud II's for awhile then upgrade to some mid tier Sennheis and a modmic.
