I just got my ps4 controller and a third party usb charger (Zacro) and tried plugging it into my PC in the usb but windows did not even recognize or even try to install that driver?  Also the ps4 lights are on, so my usb is working but not being noticed by windows especially in the devices and printers section

I also made sure windows updated automatically...

Help please :(

The PS4 controller is not officially supported in Windows. You need to install either https://inputmapper.com/ or http://ds4windows.com/ in order to use it. Either of those programs will cause the PS4 controller to be recognized by Windows as a 360 controller, and then it will work.

The Issue here is that, I can't get my controller to show up on the devices and printers as a wireless controller or ps4 controller....Nothing about the controller shows up at all on the devices and printers...My ps3 controller showed up (while not being supported) as a ps3 game pad in the devices and printers..Why is ps4 controller not doing that?

Hmmm. Maybe try this:

Install with USB+Controller plugged in. My controller wouldn't show up until I carefully checked Device Manager, uninstalled the drivers Windows installed, rebooted, plugged back in and then installed the above.

I'll say this again

I plugged in my controller, it should make a sound telling me that windows is trying to update the usb driver or some crap, the issue is that is not happening here and it does not appear in the devices and printers...

I know what you said. I'm trying to give you a solution to try.

Unless you've installed one of the programs I linked you to, I don't see the point in complaining. AFAIK, Windows won't recognize it without one of those programs. You mentioned your PS3 controller worked, but this is a PS4 controller. So, I recommend trying one of those programs that are designed specifically to make a PS4 controller function in Windows. My PS4 controller didn't work on its own, either, but it works with either of those programs installed.

Well no solutions going to work if my ps4 controller is not being recognized in the first place, if my ps3 controller can be recognized by windows through via usb why can't ps4 controller do it?

So then why did you make this thread if you think there is no solution that will work?

My PS4 controller did the same thing and I managed to get it work by carefully going through Device Manager (not Devices and Printers) and searching for "HID-Compliant consumer control device" or it could show up as "libusb", uninstalling, rebooting and then replugging the controller in (even if you do not hear the sound) and going through the SCP driver install. It is something to try, at least, right?

I installed input mapper and now how do I know if its working?

While Input Mapper is running, plug the PS4 controller in, and press the PS button on the controller to turn it on. It should make a sound, and a notification pop up to tell you that it's connected.

I don't use a USB wire, though, I connect via bluetooth. And to do that, I first had to pair my PS4 controller with Windows, by holding down the Share and PS buttons on the PS4 controller, while having my PC search for bluetooth connections. After doing that, any time I press the PS button on the controller, Input Mapper detects the controller and connects to it, and I get a blue notification in the bottom-middle of my screen which tells me that my controller is connected, and tells me its battery charge %.

Device manager shows nothing of what you showed and I tried unplugging my usb on device manager and see which HID complaint device will disconnect..Unfortunately I see nothing that disconnected so your solution is kind of useless to me

I press the ps4 button with the usb wire in but it still says no compatible controllers connected

Does your PS4 controller light up to show that it's powered on?

Windows 7 doesn't have the 360 driver built in, and might need it to be installed manually before Input Mapper or DS4Windows detects your controller. Windows 10 has the 360 driver built in.

360 controller driver: https://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-ca/d/xbox-360-controller-for-windows

If you had an older version of the 360 driver installed, I suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the 360 driver. Otherwise, it should be as straight-forward as I've said:

You can also try connecting it via bluetooth, if your controller is charged, and if you have a bluetooth dongle for your PC (onboard mobo bluetooth is usually really bad):

1. Turn on your Bluetooth device and make it discoverable.

The way you make it discoverable depends on the device. Check the device or visit the manufacturer's website to learn how.

2. Select the Start button Start button icon > Devices and Printers.
3. Select Add a device > select the device > Next.
4.Follow any other instructions that might appear. Otherwise, you're done and connected.

Your Bluetooth device and PC will usually automatically connect anytime the two devices are in range of each other with Bluetooth turned on.

Nope it is the latest 1.2 one...

I could try via bluetooth but lets see if the wired option works first with all of our might

Do you know that your USB port is working, and have you tried a different USB port?

Yes I tried my front usb 2.0 port and tried my back port of my computer...Not sure if its 3.0 or 2.0 but it shouldn't matter at this point since the cable is 2.0 version

Well, I don't know what the problem is, then. Try pairing the controller via bluetooth:

1. Make the PS4 controller discoverable by holding down the Share and PS buttons simultaneously.

2. In Windows, click the Start button Start button icon > Devices and Printers.

3. Select Add a device > select the device > Next.

4. Follow any other instructions that might appear. Otherwise, you're done and connected.

With the wire or without?

never mind, held down both buttons and it started flashing constantly but when I went to add the device nothing popped up
