So I just got done recently building a computer but I held off from buying a new os because I already have a laptop with windows 8. I have already tried using the Microsoft tool to copy the ISO onto a USB and have it reformated to be a boot drive but Everytime I try to use it on my computer it give me the same message "boot disk failure, insert a boot disk" (doesn't say that word for word but it's pretty close) what should I do to get my os onto this new computer and/or where can I go to buy windows 8 without having to spend over a ridiculous price (I.e. 100 dollars, 50 dollars)

this doesnt sound like an issue with your OS

more like an issue with the way you put windows on your USB drive

try doing this instead

http://www.howtogeek.com/224342/how-to-clean-install-windows-10/

it tells you how to properly make a USB at the start

and yes you should be using windows 10

you can activate it with your windows 8 key

no need to buy anything

This tool never let me down.

So you might want to try using this to make bootable USB from your .ISO file.

I wonder why no one talked about problem with laptops key. First, all laptops that come with windows pre-installed have OEM keys. Which means they are locked onto first mobo key is activated with. Second, its one machine per key. If laptop would have retail key, you would be able to use or activate it on either desktop or laptop. But not both at the same time.
