AMD cards oddly seem to benefit from an i5 over an i7 in some situations?

yes i do...why?

Can you do a test run for me at Ultra no hairworks 1440p? Use DSR or something similar? I want to see how it performs with what I assume is an overclocked 980 Ti. Videos on youtube aren't accurate because of recording FPS hits and the like.

i7 6700K @ Stock (Yes I know) ~~~ Corsair H80i GT ~~~ GIGABYTE G1 Gaming Z170X Gaming 7 ~~~ G. Skill Ripjaws V 2x8GB DDR4-2800 ~~~ EVGA ACX 3.0 GTX 1080 SC @ 2GHz ~~~ EVGA P2 850W 80+ Platinum ~~~ Samsung 850 EVO 500GB ~~~ Crucial MX200 250GB ~~~ Crucial M500 240GB ~~~ Phanteks Enthoo Luxe

Nice. I'm seeing a lot of 980 Tis for cheap on NCIX (not that much more than Kijiji) and I'm thinking of grabbing an EVGA one. This 1080 has issues in old games and NVIDIA doesn't seem to want to fix them.

issues with old games?! like what?!

i bet the 980ti would have the same issues?!

980ti overclocked like the one i'm running perform about the same as a GTX 1070...so about 15 to 18% slower than the 1080.

Well no, I get the same performance as you with my 1080, a little better, but very close at stock 1080 clocks. The 1070 stock is slower than your OC 980 Ti. But anyway, Skyrim stutters, the old harry potter games stutter. Seems to be a DX9 or older issue?

i can confirm i have no problem running DX9 games...namely skyrim and rocket league for example both perform admirably with no issues what so ever...i havnt tried anything older than DX9 though.

Seems like the 980 Ti doesn't have those issues. I'm only going to take a minor hit in performance to an OCed 980 Ti, and I'll save money. No big deal.
