I have a laptop that has a Intel core i5 5200u cpu, with an integrated intel hd 5500 graphics and also an nvidia 920m gpu. When I go to DxDiag.exe and in the display tab says the intel 5500 hd graphics, cant see some nvidia 920m tho. but in icon tray I have both drivers for intel hd graphics and nvidia graphics running on background, and also when I go to the device manager under the display section I can see the 2 cards. so basically my system is detecting these two gpu.

My questions are....

1. does they work at the same time?
2. does they render games at the same time?

3. if not which one is currently I'm using the integrated or the nvidia?

coz I search somethin that the nvidia 920m is a little bit faster than the intel hd graphics, if they are not rendering stuffs at the same time, I'll disable the other one, I think I currently using the intel one coz that's the one says in dxdiag but no sure tho.

If you are using the Intel one, enable the 920m and disable the iGPU in device managers.

If it's all good nvidia optimus should be working.

What this does is turn off the nvidia gpu when you don't need it, and turn it on to power intensive programs.

For example, you are just browsing the web, the nvidia driver turns the 920m off, so it doesn't appear because it's not active.

When you run a game, the 920m should be poked into action and take care of the game, you won't even notice when it's being turned on or off.

I always check it with hwmonitor, when i open that and optimus is working fine and i'm doing nothing special, my 610m isn't there, but when i open hwmonitor when a game is running, the 610m is there being monitored.

The reason this exists is to save battery life, which it does in my laptop.
