the 6700k is enough for what you need to do.

and you're having problems with gaming because its your GPU, not your CPU.

i have Rainmeter on my second monitor and it's my CPU. It's being pinned at 95-100% and my GPU is not even going above 80% at 1440P...

CPU - Ryzen 7 2700 CPU Cooler - Cooler Master ML240R Motherboard - ASUS X470-PRO RAM - Team Group Vulcan 2400Mhz 16GB GPU - EVGA RTX 2070 Black SSD - Kingston A400 120GB, ADATA SU650 1TB HDD - Seagate Barracuda 1TB PSU - Seasonic Focus+ 650W Case - Fractal Design Define C Keyboard - Corsair K60 Mouse - Logitech G602 Speakers - Logitech LS21 2.1 w/ sub Headphones - ATM 50X Racing Wheel - Logitech G27 Monitors -  ASUS VS228H-P x2

The Haswell-E equivalent to the 6850K is the 5930K, so why not consider that instead?

(…and then if you're considering a 5930K, you may as well just get a 5820K unless you actually need 40 PCIe lanes.)

i was looking at the 5930K, but i'll only be saving about $40, which in the long run doesn't really do much, other than the fact there are more out there so it's easier to know how far it can OC

If you do allot of rendering work a 5960X wont be a bad investment.

However it just depends on what you are doing for kind of rendering workloads, and which application you are using aswell.

In some applications you can also use your current gpu for render acceleration.

But i would go with X99 any day of the week.

Wenn it comes to the 6 cores, if you realy need those 40 pci-e lanes, then yeah pick the 6850K or 5930K.

But if you dont need it, then dont botter with paying a $200,- premium for just 12 pci-e lanes.

But rather grab a 5820K or 6800K.

most of the rendering work will be live streaming, with occasional premiere work, and i will need the extra lanes because of PCIe cards

because the 6900K is an extra $200 and i can just overclock the 5960X

the 6900k is the 8 core for the same price at the 5960x, i think you are talking about the 6950x.
