How many volts would be required to overclock my CPU to 4.1 Ghz?

 

Here are my specs:

CPU: Intel Pentium G3258

Motherboard: ASUS H81M-A MicroATX DDR3 1333 LGA 1150

Ram: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB Kit (4GBx2) DDR3 1600

Hard Drive: Seagate 1TB Desktop HDD

Video Card: ZOTAC GeForce GTX 750 Ti DirectX 11 ZT-70605-10M 2GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready Plug-in Card Video Card

Case: Rosewill Dual Fans MicroATX

Power Supply: EVGA 500 W1 80+, 500W Continuous Power, 3 Year Warranty Power Supply 100-W1-0500-KR

to be safe put it to 1.8V

Just start tinkering with your volts until you get it there and can run a stress test on it for 20-30 minutes without a crash then you will know.

Noone knows, but for Haswell a good value would be 1.2-1.35V. Anything more and you can kill your CPU... 

DO NOT GO ABOVE 1.4V... (Unless you want to kill your CPU)

But can you overclock on H81 Chipset? I think you need a Z97 board to do so...

Start at default voltage, and run your stress test. If it crashes inch the voltage upward little by little until it doesn't. 4.1 GHz is a fairly modest overclock for a G3258, so it may not take much.

 

If it seems like no one is giving you a straight answer, it's because each chip has slightly different tolerances. There is no formula to figure out exactly what voltage a given CPU needs at a given frequency. You have to figure out the proper voltage for your hardware using the method I explained above.

I'm fairly new to computer specs/hardware, how much should I be inching up the voltage?

I usually do about 10–50 mV at a time (0.010–0.050 V), depending on how high it's getting and what preconceived notions I may have about what it will need. Ideally you want to keep the voltage as low as you can while still achieving stability, so you'll want to creep upwards at very granular increments. Don't be afraid to start off quite low, like 1.1 V or so. 4.1 GHz is a fairly gentle overclock and that may actually be close.

 

You probably won't get anywhere near 1.4 V, but just keep that in mind as a relatively "high" voltage for most modern Intel processors. That's the sort of voltage you'd probably end up with if you were trying to really push the limits of the chip around 4.8 GHz and above, and only then with great cooling.

What is your CPU cooler? 

What voltage are you getting now, we need more information. You could be getting 1.4V already, we don't know, or you may have a bad chip... 

My bet, is just seeing how high you can go, just toggle the settings around and do stress test's, see if you get any BSOD, Try anything...

Would a CPU Cooler be required to overclock? Would it be possible to overclock a good amount but to the point where it's not overheating and a cooler wouldn't be required?

Yes, It is needed. The better cooler the better amount you can overclock. For the voltage It's all about the chip, I had a friend with an chip with a stock voltage of 1.8V. Really bad... 

But yes, an cooler can do a lot when do overclocking :D

You never know every chip is diffrent.

But your H81 motherboard pretty much wont overclock you anywhere far most likely.

doubt you would be able anywhere near 4.1 ghz with an h81 board. You will only be able to do some very limited overclocking with that motherboard. There is much more to it than just increasing voltage and clockspeed.
