Hello,

Today I got to know that the new GIGABYTE X99 motherboards Ultra Gaming and Designare-EX have a feature called Turbo B Clock that lets you set a baseclock of your choice. What I wonder now is if you could overclock the 2011-3 Xeon E5s with this feature.

Does somebody know something about this?

BCLK overclcocking can be done on almost any cpu, or motherboard, but you will not get noticeable differences unless you have won the silicon lottery.

Single QPI (E5-1xxx) Xeons are actually unlocked.

Qual QPI (E5-2xxx) are not. I have only seen 1 out of about 5 or 6 LGA2011(-3) E5-2xxx Xeon able to run the 125 BLCK strap.

That's the thing I am wondering about. This "Turbo B Clock" is an external clock generator. GIGABYTE says that with that you are able to adjust the BCLK from 90 to 500 MHz so that you are not limited to the 5% increase you would normally be.
