intermediate laptop

hayo everyone, my laptop (levovo g2020) just finally gave out (defective thermal paste) and iv been on the hunt for a new one (10 minutes on amazon) i'll only really be using it for steam in home streaming and basic web browsing at school. my budget is $150 to $200 (u.s.), any recommendations?

Used thinkpad t420/x220 or dell e6420/e6220/e6320

That i5 laptop may be old but its far better than the HP stream. It looks like its at the very least a Sandybridge mobile i5, the same as what is in my Mum's latest laptop and its actually very good for a 5 year old CPU.

true, but i think its a bit too thick and heavy for my needs.

It would be between 1.5-2KG and it would give you very good value for money-far better value than newer cheaper laptops that can't be upgraded (you should be able to upgrade the i5)

but after a new ssd and ram and maby cpu i don't think that would be worth it.

You won't find a laptop that is new and better with the same specs (before or after upgrade costs). You could always go with something that has an APU, but they really aren't that good due to the way they throttle and their temperature sensors (or lack of temperature sensors)
