780ti or 960?

This is probably common sense but need some opinions

I'll be buying off ebay (unless anyone can find UK sites cheaper than here)

Do i go for the older, but in my opinion better option, the 780ti

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR10.TRC0.A0.H0.X780ti.TRS0&_nkw=780ti&_sacat=0

Or the newer 960

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw=780ti&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR10.TRC0.A0.H0.X960.TRS0&_nkw=960&_sacat=0

*WILL NOT BE PURCHASING ANYTHING UNTIL AUGUST

THOUGHT I'D MENTION THAT*

I'd go with the 780ti as it is far more powerful than the 960. And also they are pretty the same price atm!

The 780ti competes with the 970 and the first one being little bit faster :)

I don't recommend the 960 at all. In my opinion it's not worth it.

Which 780ti you're planning to buy?

Being newer doesn't always mean being better :)

780ti, 290x, 290 are good options

however, I'd wait until the RX 480 launches

if it's amazing, buy it

if not, prices of old cards will still drop, so buy a last gen card for a good price

If you do choose* the 780Ti just be sure to revert drivers to avoid the almighty gimp that has reeked upon the 700 series my dear goy.

Eh the 970 tends to be faster than the 780 Ti these days since Nvidia aren't really optimising new releases for Kepler any more.

But personally i'd go with the 780ti. Yeah there are games where the 970 performs better and then there are some games where the 780ti outperforms the 970 (cuda cores, tflops etc) especially in the not-so-driver-optimized-games. I like the 780ti alot! but only limiting factor is the vram it has (same goes for the gtx 970) :/

hopefully the 1070/1080 will be the sweet spot for me.

The 970's 4GB is enough for 4K (you can't say the same for the 780 Ti's 3GB) and it's much better optimised for in new releases.

I was aiming in 1080p gaming. And yes new releases but new releases don't include the rest games which aren't probably as well optimized.  But that's just what I personally think :)

You really shouldn't be caring about vram at 1080p. You can count on one hand the games that benefit from having more than 2GB, let alone 4GB.

After seeing the price of the new R9 380, is it worth going for that over a 960/780ti?
