How Do You Type?

My left hand starts on wasd and my right hand starts on home row, then my fingers just do what they want

Left hand starts on WSAD - Pinky on left control, thumb on space from my many years of pc gaming

Right hand typically on my mouse, even when resting. But when I type my right hand starts on the typical JKL and thumb on space.

I use all of my fingers, but i don't rest them on the home keys. I still type 90 wpm, so I'm fine with the way i type  I do by force of habit rest my fingers on wasd at the beginning though.

I use my indeed middle and ring on both hands and get about 50WPM on a crapy membrane keyboard

I do a slight variation of home row keys. I choose to get off the A, and use that finger for LShift instead. Sometimes I'll go and have my finger on the E instead. Yeah, fuck WASD. ESDF master race.

I just use my left hand to type everything and use my right hand for shift and backspace. My COMP SCI teacher was quite amazed at how I typed when messaging other students through a little message board we set up. 

 

I really should make a video of what my hand does when I type, it's really cool, well, at least to me it is.

I use eight fingers for the main typing zone otherwise it becomes way too crowded due to my pretty large hands. I use my pinkies for apostrophe and shift/control only.

I usually stick with using 8 fingers, but if i'm too focused on something and I don't really care anymore I only use 7 excluding pinky fingers and right ring finger

I started at hunting and pecking and slowly got faster with time... until I was finally using the home keys without looking at the keyboard. I never took a typing class, that's just what I ended up learning with time and lots of practice.

I had to mix up all the letters on my keyboard so that the only reference I had was F and J in order to learn home keys.

I don't really think about it, I think words and my fingers put them into the keyboard, the only time it doesn't work properly is when I attempt to type from a funny angle to the keyboard.

 

Going from an old Razer Lycosa membrane board to my mech made a big difference to my accuracy and speed, not sure it'd help everyone though, maybe the Lycosa is just poor for typing on.

lol that's one way to go about it. Instant messaging on MSN became my primary means of communication with a few friends of mine, so I just had to learn fast. I went from less than 20 words per minute with a few errors to right around 70 with no errors at all

had a mandatory typing class in 7th grade so it burned the home keys into my brain however I was a horrible typist till about my senior year in high school (99) when I discovered chat rooms (adult rooms) and just by necessity and the will not to keep chicks waiting on my perversions I became a very fast accurate typist. Thank you lonely guys who were pretending to be girls, oh how you have helped me.

I use anywhere between 5-8 fingers and don't use the home row method. Don't need to look at the keyboard either, due to developed muscle memory.

Traditional touch typist. I can get upwards of 120 WPM but that's if I'm really paying attention to what I'm doing.
