I just type. My hands don't go anywhere specifically.  :P My hands just fly all over the keyboard, going to whatever button I should be pressing next. I mostly type with around 8 fingers, and recently I have been trying not to look at the keyboard when I type. I type most accurately and the fastest while listening to music. (Fast for me is 50 wpm :P)

I type weirdly because I kinda want to use the ho-me row method, but I'm in the process of doing so so I kinda use 6 fingers in a weird row, and it's kinda weird because I can type without looking at the keyboard but I feel the necessity to look at it and it feels really weird when I don't look at it even tho I can type without looking at it

Carefully...lol

I actually don't really pay much attention to it, I'm used to it that my hands kind of just put themselves where they need to me.  It's always fun having people over and having them ask if they can look something up really quick on my computer.  Always get a funny look and some frustrating sighs.  Guess having an Otaku keyboard is somewhat of a security feature, lol.

I don't use my pinkies for letters though I use them for shift, enter and stuff. I have no idea what I'm doing, but I seem to be able to type pretty efficiently.

When programming, I certainly can type faster than I can think what to write, so I don't really need to improve.

My left hand rests on A W D and my right hand just rests on the right part of the keyboard (not entirely sure exactly where all my fingers on my right hand go on the keyboard :P )

Oh and im kinda slow at typing. This probably took me a minute to write in itself.  :(

That's exactly how I type!

Most probably everyone types the same. Strangely I almost never use my pinky fingers. Just for shift, caps lock, ctrl and tab on one side and shift, and enter on the other side.

I learnt to touch type in highschool, it was taught in a class called "Word Processing" and as the name implies, it also focussed on working with microsoft word. Either way, i'm glad i took that class because i can type quite well without looking at the keyboard. :) Im curious to learn to type on a dvorak keyboard layout though, has anybody else had a shot at them? It seems like a better layout to type on that the one we currently use.

I took a typing class CD-rom thing when I was 6, so I guess I've always typed the "correct" way, start on the home keys, and not look at my hands.

So I was wondering about this for a while and I just wanted to see your guys input and say about this,So typing we all do it.

But how do you do it what letters on the keyboard do you start on before you start typing.

Example:I start out on wasd for my left hand with my pinky on shift and my left thumb on space bar my right hand my left hand on ji and enter. This is kind of strange in comparison to the "Home Keys" which they teach you which are these http://www.typing-lessons.org/lesson_1.html.

For me these are so hard to type with starting out I guess I type in a strange way,But that doesn't matter how do you type!

i put my left hand on 'tab 2 3 d and space bar' my right hand on 'space bar k o p ]'

I rest it in this innatural position because for the most part I use my first three fingers on both hands to type, I never, ever use my pinki.and very rarely; do it use my ring finger.

Thumbs for the spacebar.

Left pinky for LShift area.

Right pinky for RShift area, apostrophe, semicolon, etc.

Index, middle, ring for everything else.

I don't do "home row" or anything like that, I just kinda put my hands on the keyboard and start typing.  I do have to glance down every so often so I don't lose my place.

I have small hands so I tend to type fairly correctly (fingers aren't long enough to type 'sloppily'). I do however have the bad habit of only using the left shift key which regularly forces me to do a weird stretch motion... still trying to break that habit. As for learning to type better, I would suggest one of the following; typing on a black out keyboard (either blank keys or a blank key cover) or typing in the dark (sounds strange I know but It really helped me learn to be fast and accurate). Then try copying text (from like a book or newspaper), just look at the page and type as fast as you can while still being accurate (you will probably have bursts of text followed by slow periods), don't worry about being perfect, the accuracy will come with practice and time.
