There's an UBER For fixing phone screens? WHATTTT??

Sounds like a terrible idea. Fixing a phone screen is not an easy task. All it takes is one idiot to completely ruin your phone. Liability is a huge issue.

 

Actually come to think about it, driving someone in a car has 1000x the liability... you screw up, people die... Maybe the phone idea doesn't sound so bad after all.

Louis Rossman actually reuploaded a video recently on why things like this are bull****.  He even goes over the many thousands of dollars that goes into each machine to do a repair on this phone specifically

I went to china and saw a market, they even have A9 chip which is not original, they are priced based on quality. just give the device, they will replace anything.. all the authentication exists in the knock off

as someone who's job it is to fix screens all day. yes you cant get OEM apple screens, but there is a difference between a good aftermarket screen and a random cheapo screen from Ebay. Some aftermarket screens are just as good as OEM apple because the companies that make those (the companies I send the broken screens out to) refinish them into high quality screens. 

Space Journal #1: So Apparently i  was dropped on the moon like i'm a mars rover, in a matter of hours i have found the transformers on the dark side of the moon. Turns out its not that dark since dem robots are filled with lights, i waved hi to the Russians on the space station, turns out all those stories about space finding humans instead of the other way around is true(soviet Russia joke). They threw me some Heineken beer and I've been sitting staring at the people of this forum and earth since.

when replacing a screen, you can use a random flex cable that the TouchID button connects to. But you cant use another TouchID button on an iphone that had one replaced. It will act as a normal button and not as a finger scanner. The TouchID authentication is build into the button itself.

Lol reading this thread reminds me of this video... TL;DR iPhone 6 screens are very expensive, and requires a lot of tools. There is no cheap ways.

reading you r comment makes me think you didn't grasp what rossman says: replacing a display assembly it's easy peasy, replacing the glass, just the glass, not the glass and digitalizer, just the glass that stays on top of the digitalizer, that's an expensive worthless task not worth the time or money or trouble.

Yeah replacing just the glass is a waste of time, when you can simply buy the entire display assembly - Certainly for more money, probably, but at much lower labour costs.

Icracked had been around for a few years now. Louis rossmann did the math and though only make about 7k a year or something. Also Apple does this repair in store for 97$ now.
