because for gaming, if you get a better GPU, you get better performance

 

thats why a 1080 perform better than a 1070

the graphics card is the bottleneck

 

if there was no bottleneck there would be infinite fps

So there basically isn't a bottleneck other than modern hardware isnt advanced enough

Not really true. If you think about the computer's performance like pouring water (as per the bottleneck metaphor) you can pour water faster if you have a larger container. If your components don't bottleneck they will still only run so fast because of how powerful they are, or how big the container is. But if one component is so much worse than the other, it will limit the performance by essentially making the top of the container thinner and therefore the water pours slower. I'm tired that might have totally made no sense at all
