I figured I would go bigger on this one, because I found that on Newegg and on other sites that a 500, 650, and 750 watt PSU were priced all the same suprisingly.

I'd honestly pay the premium for a WD since you can get support for it here in the forums.

Can also cut prices by using a XFX TS.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

Meh, at this budget, shame not to have a modular gold efficiency PSU. If he wants to get the WD drive, be my guest, personally don't think it's worth the bit extra.

So for the CPU, Is that CPU a good cpu for gaming and editing? Or only editing, Because I will be doing a majority of both. Also, is it good for recording / streaming? ( Don't know much about XEON processors :P )

Better than the 6600k at it, that's for sure. Think of it as a locked i7 without an iGPU.

Sounds great! Is there a way to unlock a Xeon, and is it worth the time and effort to even unlock a Xeon?

Not necessary. And the xeon is a locked chip, no way to OC via multiplier.

Generally a cpu that is good for editing definitely wont be worse for gaming. the 1231v3 is basically a cheaper 4790. you dont get the benefits of skylake (like ddr4) but you do get the cheaper costs of last gen hardware.

If you really had the budget a 5820k would be a nice choice but you'd be spending a few hundred more only to gain lower render times.

Also, if you aren't already using it I recommend shadowplay to record. it doesn't tax the cpu and i haven't noticed any lower fps whatsoever.

Just because I feel like it, the 1231v3 is pretty much an i7-4770 without the iGPU. It will also last longer and might be cooler because they have to be binned due to the Xeon name and how they're normally used in business and workstation setups
