hey guys, i am wanting to build my first pc. I am currently thinking about getting the i3-6100, but i was wondering if the 8 cores in the 8350 would be better than the i3. also, i am just looking for general opinion from some other people about the 8350 and if it is still viable at this time.

thanks.

Depends. What are you going to be using it for?

looking at $159 get yourself an i5 4460

I would get an i5-6400 or 6500

The i3 will perform the same or better in most games compared to the FX-8350. If you get the i3, you can upgrade to an i5 or even an i7 down the road.

If I was in the market today, I would get the i3 and a motherboard that can support an i5 or i7 and overclocking.

I have an 8350 and I don't plan on upgrading for a few years because I anticipate software to become more multi threaded, and also games with the implementation of DX12.  But I Would not invest in an am3+ platform and an 8350 today.
