Hey guys, a relative of mine is going to 'Murica and I'm thinking of ordering some components (cpu, ssd and maye something else) from Amazon to his hotel because they are SOOOOO much cheaper there and ask him to bring them back to my country (Bulgaria). But I'm concerned about some things: If they're in his luggage, will he have to pay tax (because I know that if you order from Amazon.com to Bulgaria the price becomes high af) and secondly, what happens with the warranty? Thanks!

USA wouldn't care about stuff going out.  They only tax stuff going in.  So you would probably have to see what the rules of Bulgaria would be.  But even so usually if it is only for your personal use and not for reselling there shouldn't be any tax.  As for warranty, it should still be in effect but you would have to send it back to the USA if there is a problem somehow.

Hmm, I know that if I order electronic devices from amazon.com (not co.uk) it will have tax https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tariff

Alright then. Soo, what do you think that will be worth importing? CPU's and SSD's are carried easily and are cheaper in the US, but Mobos are also much cheaper but are bulkier. What do you think? Should I order a mobo too? How big are the boxes of a mobo?

Your own country will be the one claiming tax and/or customs. Depending on how the laws and regulations are there. If its EU country, it will follow in most part EU laws for importing stuff. Electronics are most trickiest because EU regulates imports (I guess they know it would be cheaper to buy elsewhere and bring it with you or gift it). I had keypad hold in customs because it was electronics being gifted.

You might get around by smuggling (yes its illegal) stuff in luggage and just walking past customs. They might random check you. If they find out you are trying to bring stuff without paying customs, you will need to pay customs plus ticket for the crime committed. If you want to try the illegal route, take everything off package, every single price tag or thing that would indicate it being new. No manuals or anything with it. Even having receipt would be stupid move (that can be photocopied and emailed anyway).

Warranties are ok for the most part. Most companies allow you to take warranty claims to local importer/office. Rest is annoying and will require you to send stuff to shop used.

In all, I suggest using EU based store if you live in EU country. You will pay only local (shops) tax and shipping.

I would assume bringing in expensive video cards would be relatively easy if you simply swap the cooler and backplate with a lesser model and using the box of that lesser model.

I've heard of people building the entire pc before having it brought in. Would make it easier to devalue the pricy stuff.

All illegal, but with a little thinking, anything is possible.

Warranty might be voided when the items leave the US. Some companies only will apply warranty to country in which it was purchased. I cant say about tax going out of the US. But depending on the state that your shipping goods, you might have to pay sales tax. For example Amazon operates warehouses here in Michigan. So if you order goods here, you are subject to 6% sales tax.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Now I'm scared. Well, about 5-7 years ago he brought a laptop bought from the us with him, but without the boxes and manuals and stuff and as far as I know all was fine. However, a graphics card would be harder to bring in as I need/want the boxes and manuals and cables etc. What about cpu/ssd, will that be fine?

I guess a 1070 would be expensive as all hell if I do that.

EDIT: A 1070 will cost around 400$, put it 430$ and that is 380 euros, so that would be fine, right? Also, the ssd and cpu will be brought by another relative.
