Yeah it is an ES cpu, and by the description on the page it seems like these have some sort of special microcode in them to work in specific brands of motherboards, and have a known high rate of failure, either way technically it isn't an e5 2658v3 just the ES that resembles it, and would be a gamble to whether or not they work. •E5-2670 @2.7GHz • Intel DX79SI • EVGA 970 SSC• GSkill Sniper 8Gb ddr3 • Corsair Spec 02 • Corsair RM750 • HyperX 120Gb SSD • Hitachi 2Tb HDD •
 E5-2683 v3 what about this cpu ? it cost as low as 239$ on ebay, and i see quite a lot motherboards in shop which will work withthat cpu.
 If it isn't an engineering sample then that is a pretty good deal since the chip retails for about $1800, but with the es cpus they may fail, and have no guarantees to work, but if you can get a working one then you can save a lot of money. To tell whether or not it is an engineering sample ES cpus have "confidential" on them, and may have ES or QS in the name of the listing, the cpu itself will not say e5-2xxx unless it is the real thing. •E5-2670 @2.7GHz • Intel DX79SI • EVGA 970 SSC• GSkill Sniper 8Gb ddr3 • Corsair Spec 02 • Corsair RM750 • HyperX 120Gb SSD • Hitachi 2Tb HDD •
 Actually, review samples are often considered ES By intel since they are not release CPUs. My current build - Ever Changing.
