Hey LTT community, need some feedback. I think this may have been discussed before on some previous threads, but i haven't found what i'm looking for. So here is my question: I am planning on grabbing a Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 3 pretty soon, and I was wondering what you guys think the feasibility is of running the cooler without fans. I saw Linus try this out in his "ultimate silent computer" video but he never really got into the thermal performance. I am primarily a gamer and don't do much intensive creative work. Here are the system specs ill be throwing it into:

CPU: i7-3770k (Minimal Overclock if any) IC Diamond 7c Thermal Paste

GPU: EVGA GTX 980ti

Case: Corsair 400c Case with 2x front 140mm fans, 1x rear 120mm all low volted in BIOS

as long as you have good case airflow and a rear exhaust fan you should be able to run the DRP3 without fans and not overheat

I would say its probably not a good idea on a K series decent chip. Its probably possible on some very low TDP chips, but i wouldnt want to chance burning out a chip instead of just using a fan on it. because you can just put it on a really low RPM and not hear it, and that would be better than nothing

+1

certainly no overclocking without a fan.

If you want silent PC, why not add a low rpm fan on the DRP3 and take the fans out of your case. better option.
