Hi guys I not been long a PC gamer (I do love it) but I don't understand why would someone have a 120hz or 144hz monitor. I thought if you are playing at 100fps how would it matter any way.

I can see a lot of people knowing its just I've never had anyone to tell me why.

Thanks

Because they notice the difference between 60Hz (60 fps) and 120/144Hz (120/144fps)?

You not noticing the different between 100fps and any kind of fps above that may have something to do with you only have a 60Hz panel?

Because (atleast in my case) I notice a difference between 100hz and 60hz but they dont generally make monitors in the early 100hz range they are usually standardized to 120 or 144hz.

Some people prefer high FPS, so you'd need 120 hz or 144 hz. There are very few, if any, 100hz monitors, so you're limited to 120 or 140.

Plus, most people get hardware that will drive their games at an FPS greater than 120 or 144 so they get the maximum benefit.

Smoother gameplay,  and in games that require quick reactions, it helps. If you have 2 people of the same skill, the one with the 144 hz monitor will do better than the one with 60, because he gets the information he needs faster.
