Gaming PC for Friend

My mate will be upgrading his PC soon with some help from me in the form of some free parts I had lying around and helping him actually build it.

Before you guys flip your shit about the memory, I will be swapping it with an 8GB kit of G.Skill RAM I have in my ITX build. He'll have 2x 4GB sticks in dual-channel, I'll have a single 8GB stick for expansion capabilities. That's my reasoning behind it. That motherboard was chosen for overclocking.

Thoughts?

Get a better PSU. The 500B is the worst out of the whole B1 line-up and the 760 is not a 750 Ti in terms of power draw. S12II 520W

Yep, don_svetlio is right: get a better PSU and you the build is fine, maybe since you have a rather powerful GPU getting an 880K wouldn't hurt, but that would cost you an extra £20

It's fine. 860K can match an i3 4160 with a small OC and some faster RAM

Alright, I'll go for an S12II. Finding one with free/cheap delivery is a pain in the ass, though.

But I imagine it would be cranked 100% in some games, but you're probably more experienced than me

860K is quite decent. 760 doesn't need an i7 to feed it - remember that when the 760/660 Ti were the high end cards all we had were i5s from Sandy and the 860K comes damn close to them.

I think the 880K is 99% the same as the 860K, except with a slightly higher base clock. Seeing as I'll be overclocking, this isn't an issue anyway.

I think the 880K was Carrizo and the 860K Kaveri (not sure)

There is a difference in MC performance of about 8% post OC (IIRC - ask Prysin)

Exactly , hehe...now time to figure out why my GPU likes to blackscreen when I'm mining with it with an OC on my CPU...it's not drivers or the actual GPU...only happens when my CPU is OCed with me mining...egh...
