Upgrading fx6300

So I'm considering upgrading my fx6300. I am defently upgrading my graphics card first but I think I want to upgrade the cpu as well. Would upgrading to a 8350 even be worth it? I would like to eventually like to go Intel i7 6700 but then I'd have to upgrade my mother board as well and ddr4 at that point might as well just build a whole new system which I will probably do in a few months but want to get the most out of my current set up first. I have a r7 370 4gb gpu 16bg ddr3 1600. A decent psu and a corsair aio. Here's a list of current setup.

i recommend saving up and wait for amd zen or intel kabylake

or upgrade to skylake if you're upgrading now

 

that platform isnt worth investing in anymore imo, with new cpu coming out soon

At this point in time it'd be a waste of money. Unless you can score a wicked second hand CPU.

you might also find more performance out of your 370 with a faster platform. don't upgrade the card yet. the 8350 really won't be an upgrade.

The graphics card and the PSU need to go. 

I'd get a graphics card that preforms similar to a R9 390 when the new GPU models come out. 

I'd get a good PSU like the EVGA G2,  GS or GQ, Corsair RMi or RMx or any Gold Rated PSU from Seasonic or XFX.

I was thinking about getting a r9 380 or 380x what exactly is the difference there? I was also looking at the r9 nano and then the new card would go in a better system with sky lake or zen/kabylake later. Then the r7 would go back in there as a secondary/wife/family pc. Also is that new gpu that I have ok?

Picture since updates. I have the aio in push pull. I wish I knew more about over clocking since I know to get the most from the cooler I need to over clock.

I found a good deal so I upgraded my gpu today. I'm very happy so far.

Before and after. Do you think my gpu is being bottlenecked? I just got playing doom in 1080 and I was anywhere from 60-100 fps at all times. I think it looked great can't wait to get a 1440 144hz monitor to go with it.

good luck with the card..... wish I had one. but your platform is still holding you back. again, don't buy an 8350 processor. save your money for the next build.

Thanks. I was looking at an r9 380 but for not much more $380 I got the r9 nano. The size of it even compared to my msi r7 370 is amazing. I'm really in love with this card I hope with the next launch of cards amd carries the nano line forward.

Graphics card now or when Polaris/Pascal release then get CPU later the FX-6300 is still awesome! (OC to 4.3 or higher will make your FX do better)

I am kind of in the same situation as you. My solution. Sell my old system. I would have needed to upgrade so much stuff so I decided that it is easier to sell my old system and use the money I get for the upgrade. Not very efficient since you lose a lot of money selling used tech. But better than upgrading everything except the hard drives . I would keep the water cooler and buy a cheap air cooler to replace it since the cooler is worth a lot and someone buying second hand systems probably isn't thinking about getting an aio water cooler. you save some money. And you don't have to lower the selling price much since people don't really care about the cooler that much.

I have a fx-6300 (also upgrading soon) at 4.5 GHz on a 20€ cooler. it's great at overclocking but it really is not that great if you wan't to upgrade in the future.

If you got a good deal it seems like a great upgrade. doubled your fps after all.

I might need jump to intel since I need to upgrade before the end of summer. Otherwise I would have waited for zen. It would be nice to see some competition in the CPU market for a change.

From FX-6300 the best option is i7-6700K or the X99 platform!

Those were the ones I was considering. The 5820K and the 6700K. I might go for the 6700K since the chip itself is cheaper and the motherboards aswell.

I haven't really had much luck over clocking as I'm never done it before. I did the auto one with the amd overdrive software and got up to about 4.0 but I know I can take it up to at least 4.5 just not sure what voltage to set to.

yes indeed that CPU is a lot faster than the FX-6300...especially in gaming.
