Steelseries 9H, HyperX Cloud2 or Custom mic and Headphone

Hi

As the title might indicate i am looking for a new headset or headphone, I am looking to upgrade from the Steelseries siberia v2 frostblue as the microphone is beginning to fail me.

My contestants are:

Steelseries 9H (83 USD)

HyperX cloud 2 (100 USD)

Custom Headphones and Modmic (68 USD)

Your suggestions

So my problem is that i live in Denmark and electronics are VERY expensive over here, the modmic costs 450 DKR (68 USD) and the Steelseries 9H only costs 550 DKR (83 USD). There is a lot more bang for the buck if i get the "Gaming headsets" imo, or is the custom Headphone+Modmic worth the pricetag?

So all in all, do i really need to upgrade the headset? Or should i just buy a seperate mic, or should i buy a completely new setup: the Cloud II, 9H or custom setup?

Ty, and i appreciate you taking your time to read and help.

Have you considered buying in the UK or Germany? Denmark is a member of the EU, so there will be no extra taxes applied if you buy from an EU country.

If you were to buy the ModMic from the British Amazon, you could get it for 320 kr. - 350 kr without shipping.

You could also consider getting a desk mic. It won't be as convinient, but it will also be more cost effective.

Also, where can you get the SteelSeries 9H for 550 kr.? The last time I saw one on sale it went for 850 kr. and those I could find online now went for 1.095 kr.

But to get back to the topic at hand: What is your budget? It's hard to recommend anything without knowing the price range.

Are you from Denmark too?

For the Steelseries 9H you can findt it here: http://www.pricerunner.dk/cl/94/Hoeretelefoner?other_hits=%3B%3B20879%3B&q=steelseries+9h&ref=redirect&search=steelseries+9h&sp=1

My budget is 1000 kr, and the guys over at /r/Pcmasterrace seems to favor the Custom Setup by a huge margin.

I have been recommended this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/AKG-K240STUDIO-Professional-Headphones/dp/B0001ARCFA/ref=sr_1_8?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1463606666&sr=1-8

The sennheiser 558 by many

And i personally have been looking at this: https://www.conradelektronik.dk/?websale8=conrad-dk.02-aa&pi=1244055&refKey=hfMyx3lY-

The thing that holds me back from going all in on the AKG and Sennheiser is that i don't have a dedicated soundboard but instead running of my motherboard:

MSI Z77A-G43

I favor the open ear headphones, but i can make compromises for the closed Cloud 2 or 9H as they seem to be the very best of "Gaming Headsets".

Ty for responding to my post :)

The Superlux is very attractive and affordable, i personally have been looking at this: https://www.conradelektronik.dk/?websale8=conrad-dk.02-aa&pi=1244055&refKey=hfMyx3lY- the newer version, how would you say your Superlux's compares to other headsets?

I have narrowed it down to these 2:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/AKG-K240-MKII-Circumaural-Headphones/dp/B0016MNBAM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1463609662&sr=8-2&keywords=akg+k+240

AKG K240 MKII

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Superlux-HD668B-Headphones/dp/B003JOETX8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1463610008&sr=8-1&keywords=Superlux+HD668B

Superlux HD668B

Do you think that the difference in price is justifiable and is the extra 40 pounds worth it.

Whether or not I'm from Denmark depends on who you ask.

I was born a Danish citizen, but I have only lived in Denmark since I was 13 (so about 15 years now).

I haven't tried the AKG headphones, so I can't comment on those.

AKG tend to be a very hit or miss brand, so I would look up some reviews before buying.

So I can't reallty say if they are wotth the premium over the Superlux pair.

I can recommend the Sennheiser HD558s. They are pretty much the best you can get in their price range.

But they'll probably be outside your price range.

The Superlux HD 668b's are also highly recommendable. Again, they are the best in their price range.

However, I would recommend going with the Samson SR850s or SR950s instead, since they are the exact same headphone but with better pads.

Lastly, you won't be held back by your onboard audio solution. Everyone that tells you otherwise don't know what they're talking about.

I wouldn't bother with a soundcard or an external solution unless you have any problem with your onboard sound.
