While it might sound contrary to what you want, if you can go higher, do go higher and buy something that won't break.  a CAD U37 is pretty decent, but nearly double the budget...  it would work under the thoughts of "I can't afford for this to break." and so, spending more so that it doesn't, makes sense.

Would need a phantom power supply for half decent audio.

Go for a SADES headset, maybe a 701, haven't checked there lineup in a while but it should sound good

Get one of those cheap Zalman mics. I use a webcam as microphone, since that was my cheapest option (none of those cheap mics are available where I live).

I own one, there is a massive difference in the sound quality. I use a M-Audio Fast-Track and I use the phantom power from either that or my beringher xenyx 802 in my studio to record vocals. Phantom power is used to minimise the amount of gain required (and therefore static/background noise) to hear the mic. Cheap phantom supplies have ground buzzing as well. please learn something about XLR mic's before trying to recommend them. I stand by my previous recommendation of a SADES headset.

wait what u use a 20 dollar microphone on a 150 dollar amp? and just to be real, he wont use sennheiser hd 8 or m70x to listen to it, neither will his friends, on ts3, and i can t imagine, that a 20 dollar mic headset combo will have better audio than a standalone mic

it does believe me. Clearly you do not understand how condenser microphones work. It will sound ok for gaming but a headset will sound much better. http://steamcommunity.com/id/imdasloth/ see that if you don't believe me :P. I would actually recommend plugging it into a mixer, to a dac, to PC.

Maybe a cloud 2 or so will sound better, but the sades headset doesn't look very promising, and overall nearly every gaming headset(only sennheiser game one in my eyes sounds good) has a really bad audio. The mikrophone will may not be on level with an akg condensor pluged into a focusrite scarlett but i generally think it is the better option, also he will most likely have headphones so a headset is a bit unpracticall, but of course he would have to get a boom arm, to place it somwhere near his face.
