So i have this laptop -'m using for studying with win 7 and some day I planed to upgrade to windows 10. but desipite allwas hitting "x" when the upgrade window popped up (last time about 20 minutes ago), it just decided to do the upgrade without a warning and just forced closed all open porgramms.

I wasn't doing something critical, but it is annoying nevertheless.

I'm not complaining or looking for help, it was just an experiment if microsoft is aggressive enougth to do something against your will.

And they are, for sure. Verry bad move microsoft!!!

It's agressive for sure. But hey, at least they are taking care of the fragmented pile of crap that Windows has gotten. It's less fragmented than Android, but still really bad (e.g.: Windows XP still has a lot of users).

Windows doesn't upgrade to 10 without permission, in this case, setting Windows Updates to "download and install update automatically" is a permission.

I'm pretty sure a lot of people were complaining that regardless of what your update settings were set to, it would still update without permission. Just microsoft being complete assholes.

Like I said, Windows WILL do that depending on your Win update settings.

This has been going on for Months. MS made Windows 10 a recommended update in the Windows Update Service. So it will automatically install. Its a shitty move, but MS is done with Windows 7/8.1.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

If you have an upgrade "scheduled," then it will pop up a dialogue box with a countdown until it forces the upgrade. It's happened to me.

Really, my only gripe is that after Windows tried to force-update to Win10, I can't put my computer into sleep mode for more than 5 minutes without it waking itself up. I'll probably just say screw it and upgrade just so I can go back to putting my computer to sleep when I'm away.

It can upgrade without permission, I don't think its meant to; more than likely its a bug, but an old computer that i had running windows 7 that was just sitting on sleep for a while one day upgraded to windows 10. Windows labels Windows 10 updates as important, and therefore if you have automatically download and install important updates checked (which most people do) then it will automatically update when Microsoft decides to push it out to your computer.

*sigh*

you haven't read my reply apparently ...

By setting Windows update to download and install updates automatically, you give your permission, that's the WHOLE reason why it's called "automatically download and install updates"!!!! if it asks for permission every time then it's not automatic now is it?

Was it right for MS to put Win10 in the recommended updates? NO ... But that's not the subject.

Yes, I understand what you were saying, I do agree with you that auto update and install should be all automatic (like it is). I was referring to the fact that they labeled it a recommended update and allowed it to be automatically installed. Basically I just worded it pretty poorly.
