depends on the games you play

mmo and other lighter titles are fine on your rig

if you'd like to play VR or AAA titles, i recommend investing in a new rig (with some old parts re-used)

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

Saving up for a new rig would be the better choice.

betting on the new gpu's and a skylake / Zen if you wait that long.

if you want to do something now youll end up either having to switch MB and cpu to get an intel or stay with AMD and go for a FX 8xxx.

CPU: 6700k 4.6Ghz GPU: MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X MB: MSI Gaming M5 PSU: Evga 750 G2 Case: Phanteks EVOLV

well, to be honest both of those are a toaster...

i'd sit on the FX6300 until zen launches, but i wouldnt CF that graphics card either.

is there the possibility of getting  single more powerful gpu? if cpu upgrade is within budget, sure an r9 390 must be as well. (if we dont consider an FX8350 to be a worthy cpu upgrade)

i would rather stay with amd just because ive had no issues with amd so i dont see any reason to go to intel and because of the huge price tag on intel cpu's ahah

well, i'm not here to argue on the whole amd/intel or amd/nvidia thing. i have my opinions, you have yours.

(strictly intel/nvidia user here, amd drivers hate me)

if amd is your preference for the cpu, theres nothing i could recommend you that is worth the investment, certainly with zen coming soon™.

as for the gpu.. i personally dislike the issues that come with SLI/CF, and i'll always push for the single most powerful gpu you can get before going SLI/CF, certainly on the low end where things like 2GB vram *may* come up as an issue in some games.
