Just wondering what the connector on the far right is and what does it do?

Its a Kensington lock used by retailers and such so their stuff ins't stolen :D

its a tether prevents laptop from being stolen at stores and stuff keeps it locked to a table

It is a port no one ever uses except stores and ones on plastic body laptops are pointless

They are still used in some offices, especially call centers where a supervisor or manager may have a take home computer but not their own office.

I used a Kensington lock on my laptop while I was at University, especially if I was working in a public area like the library and had to leave my computer to go get books from shelves or walk away for any reason. Call me paranoid....

Definitely not paranoid, my buddies go to college in Newark and a Kensington lock is a nice thing to have

College is pretty much the only time I've seen/heard of people using locks for their laptops. Whether it's in their own dorm room or at the library like you said, it was definitely recommended.

In Newark you need a lot more than a Kensington lock, add a couple of guns, body armor, locks for every possession you own, etc. Was there once to stop and eat on a trip, place looked like a complete dump and the IHOP i ate at got shot up right after i left.

It's actually a lot better recently with all the schools expansion and influence, but it's still about 50% ghetto, and it's still pretty visible in the nicer "safe" neighborhoods

I'm not sure about Newark as a whole, maybe i just stopped in a bad area of town, it was only a year or two ago i was there. Stopped there on my way out of NYC(which i would also consider a complete dump anyway). Glad to hear it is improving anyway, I've lived in some pretty shitty ghetto areas before so improvement is always good.
