Is my monitor screwed?

aarondatechguy

Good Afternoon,

So I was going through my cupboard and came across this old LCD I have had for a while. The reason for not using it, is because it isn't very bright, which I believe is from the shadowing. See attached

I guess my question is, can this be fixed? Is should I just scrap it?

I am not scared to pull it apart if indeed I can fix it,

It is an Asus VW222U manufactured 2008

A gaming PC for your budget: $800 - $1000 - $1500 - $1800 - $2600 - $9001

I might be wrong, but it looks to me like it's just getting a bit old.  Since it has fluorescent bulbs inside that light up the screen, it'll get dimmer over time.  Usually after running a few minutes they get brighter as the bulbs warm up, but over the years they just get dimmer and dimmer, unfortunately.  I have an old Acer monitor from around the same time and it's starting to have the same issues.
