What do you prefer (I7 6700 & GTX 970) or (I5 6500 & GTX 980Ti)?

Depends. If i wanna livestream/render, i'd get the i7, but i'd swap the gtx 970, for an r9 390. If not, i'd get an i5 & 980ti.

Shot through the heart and you're to blame, 30fps and i'll pirate your game - Bon Jovi

Take me down to the console city where the games are blurry and the frames are thirty - Guns N' Roses

Better GPU, always and in NVIDIA's case, I'd take every opportunity to do things with the GPU than rely on the CPU wherever possible

System: Intel Core i3 3240 @ 3.4GHz, EVGA GTX 960 SSC 2GB ACX 2.0, 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 Kingston HyperX RAM, ASRock B75M-DGS R2.0 Motherboard, Corsair CX430 W Power Supply

Cause, you know, they don't exactly do the same thing.

$300 difference between 970 and 980 Ti. How do you get the price difference from 6500 to 6700 to be that?

No. x264 encoding, or gtfo when livestreaming.

6700 and 980 or 6500 and 980Ti. The CPU choices were fine, it was just the fact that you could get 2 970s for the cost of a 980Ti. And the price difference between the CPUs is only about £100

still 980 ti, as it was already said, you don't need an i7

It's not even a contest, the price difference between the 980ti ($660) and 970 ($325) is huge compared to the i7 ($300) and i5 ($195). A better comparison would be a 980 or 390x in which case I would still probably choose the 980 (if it's a 390x, I'll probably go with an i7 6700 and an r9 390).
