1920x1080 vs 2560x1080?

Derpologist

Greetings, all!

I am looking at buying a new monitor for my music production workstation. I am very good with computers, although I have never been able to understand the difference in some resolutions.

I want to get an ultrawide (specifically this: http://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-29UM67-29-Inch-LED-lit/dp/B00VBNQJKU/ref=sr_1_3?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1461785020&sr=1-3&keywords=Ultrawide+monitor), which says it is 2560x1080p. Since it is 29 inches, will I have issues reading text clearly if a window covers my whole screen?

I was also looking at this one: http://www.amazon.com/LG-UltraWide-Gaming-Monitor-34UM57-P/dp/B011ESXHBA/ref=sr_1_4?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1461785020&sr=1-4&keywords=Ultrawide+monitor

Will that one create issues trying to read text if a window (lets say Logic Pro X, my audio workstation, or Chrome) takes up the whole screen?

Thanks!

The dpi is the same as a 23in 1080p display which is standard for most users.

Thanks!

If you mean that the window would get stretched across the screen, that shouldn't happen. The program will resize itself without messing up the text or content unless it is stuck at ouptuting a certain aspect ratio, which it shouldn't be.

i have an earlier version of that monitor and it is brilliant. instead of 1920*1080 16:9 its 2560*1080 21:9. the shape of the monitor is different.

of course text is clear and the thing is perfect for any kind of content creation.

i would strongly recommend to buy it.

Sweet. I have a 21" LG standard aspect ratio 1080p display as my main (this is the best picture I have as of now: http://imgur.com/2CzjHFZ) so im planning on using the new one as my main (ultrawides for songs for dayz), and putting the LG above it, using something like what RandomFrankP did (Link:

Well since i am reading this on a LG29um67 and came from 1080p.

I can say that there are no issues with text or images. unless your planning to get the 34 inch one since there some issues can occur.

You would think Ubisoft would support the Bulldozer based architectures more given their digging themed names like bulldozer, Piledriver, Steamroller and Excavator.
