So, I'm looking into buying a chair so that I don't feel like I'm sitting on a dildo bike after 2 hours of work/gaming. I've decided what chair model I wnat, but said model is available in leather or in fabric. Of course fabric is cheaper.

I just wanted someone who knows stuff about these two textiles to list what are the advantages of leather vs fabric. Like, I won't be siiting naked on the chair but in summertime I sure do sweat. Otherwise I don't intend on washing it every month or eating/drinking/wtf inside of it. Tho sleeping inside said chair is something that could happen.

So yeah, if anyone with knowledge or experience with both these textiles could help me here, I'll be quite thankful. Don't want to waste 200$ here, you follow me?

THX.

I'd get fabric but that's just me, I had a leather chair and when it started to wear out it looked like shit

After a few years leather sure does like shit, look at my shoes "look at shoes. vomit" , since the chairs are worth so much I guess it might as well look good if I'm going to pay over 200$

As for sweating leather is bad for that, I do like the smell of the leather tho. If it hot where you are and sit with no pants on leather will be bad, and it can be harder then fabric, but leather will look nicer

Haha yeah that's what I meant with sitting naked, don't think I'll ever do that, but of course you sweat when you sleep, so that's that.

If you have pants on you should be fine. and depending of the quality of the leather it can easily crease and look bad

Won't affect the feeling of the chair right? Again, I'm mostly tired of the dildo bike feeling I get in my current chair. It's 20 years old (actually older then I am!) so I guess it's time to change. So leather or fabric on that departement doesn't change shit?

lolz

It depends for me. I actually have 2 chairs XD. I originally bought a leather chair but my ass got wet after a hour (especially during the summer). So a friend gave me a spare chair from his office and I use that mainly now.

The leather was more comfortable IMO except for the heat part. When I'm wearing pants the fabric catches and gives me mini-weggies when I move around - leather doesn't do that ;)

Fabric all the way.

Leather or Pleather is just awful.

Leather gets scorching hot in the summer or if left in sunlight, ice cold in the winter, does not breath that well and the squeaking "farting" sound when you move is very annoying.

Over time fabric will start to smell as it absorbs your natural oils and dirt and is a bit more work to clean but to me that is a minor inconvenience vs the day to day comfort and usability of fabric over leather.

Leather will be more durable over time. Good quality stuff will last more that any mechanical part of that chair. It can't do miracles like survive from spills. Imo it isn't that bad at summertime either.

Agreed

@Flowey best part about mesh, is that it never wears down, where leather and fabric seats have foam cussions that eventually squash and go flat, mesh seats are suspended on the frame and never wear out

I'd suggest fabric that would be comfie for sleep and won't feel like a dildo while your gaming.

It will also do well with food, sleeping, etc

The leather is more expensive and that kind of strain will cause the leather to slow fade or break

and have you worn a leather watch and sweat onto spoilers doesn't do very well overtime

I have used a fabric and leather. Fabric will be better and when you need to clean it it won't be a stickler like leather

I love my aeron chair. Honestly, I'll never go back to leather or fabric again.

Protip, most "leather" chairs you see in the sub $500 category aren't real leather. Most manufacturers use bonded leather which isn't the same. It's plastic/vinyl mostly. At the end of the day, you get what you pay for. Don't expect a < $500 chair to last you a long time though.

I have a 50$ 7 year old Wal-Mart chair going on strong. How you treat your belongings does go a long way in lifespan.

Well at 19 those years of not caring a fuck about your belongings are that far behind... I'd say maximum 5 years since I started caring...What doesn't help is the chair I,m now live, got about 20-25 years of sitting inside

If you're on your computer for extended periods which I'm sure you are (6+ hours a day). Yeah, you better invest in a damn good chair.

Your lower back will be grateful later on in life.

The celle is a damn great chair for the price. Especially now with their annual 15% off sale. You honestly can't go wrong if the design appeals to you.
