Looking for Air Cooler

Clanscorpia

Soooo, I finally got enough money for my PC, but Im not sure what cooler I want. I have $70CAD to spend on one and I'd like one that looks nice (Black metal), and performs as or almost as well as the Dark Rock 3. I was looking at the PH-TC12DX_BK and I liked the look but I've heard its loud. Is it possible to make it quieter or is there a better product?

mmm... dark rock 3 is pretty much my recommendation, though it cost slightly more

the quality and performance is worth it tho imo (im using DRP3, so i might be biased :P)

:/ I'd like to get a better mobo though so I can't buy such an expensive one.

there arent many air collers worth it other than the 212 evo, you also get some good ones at higher prices but the performances arent incredibly better

its not really loud, the fans that come with it are pretty good imo, you can always change for a better fan if you really care about the sound, also from most angles you only see the fan, which is black and it will not reduce performance to paint the top

How would it handle it with a Noctua/be quiet! Fan?

assuming you're asking about hyper 212,

changing the fan is probably the worst price to performance thing you can do lol

it will increase the performance slightly but my best bet is it still wont cool your chip properly

just stay with stock fans, they're not that bad either

well you can get it if you want, but you might have to tune down the overclock to match the temps you want

Cryorig H7 or H5, if you can get Cryorig where you live. The H5 does a better job at cooling but if you can't afford US$46 or something like that then the H7 is better.

Or you can just disregard my post. Doesn't Amazon US ship to Canada?

I suppose that's an option too. I like some of their cases but not a huge "phan" of their coolers.

This is so far from the truth it's nauseating. Put an NH-D15 and a 212 EVO on the same 4790K, crank the voltage way up and see which cooler hangs in there while the other throttles out.

OP, Phanteks makes some good stuff. Nice choice.

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.
