So I want to upgrade from my Cooler Master 212 Evo to a Noctua NH-U12S. I would like to know is the Noctua NH-U12S compatible with LGA 1151 socket. What do you think of the idea? Also I want to take this into a factor: http://www.pcgamer.com/intel-skylake-cpus-are-bending-under-the-pressure-of-some-coolers/

you'll be fine with the bending problem as long as you dont over tighten the screws.

why not a NH-D14 instead?

I went with NH-DH14 myself, put them on the 212 EVO heatsink and BOOM -15C

there is no issue with skylake CPUs bending

that's just clickbait

one person used a drill to overtighten their CPU cooler and then the entire internet is talking about it

Did you check noctua page. They have one of the best documentations I have seen, they say it all, even specific compatibility for each mobo.
But to answer, yes it's compatible with LGA 1151. And the link is just some BS, if you follow the instructions properly and not lazy/stupid to use power drill to screw in your components, it will be fine. There are tons of builds with these components out there, haven't seen another one having any issues.

The jump from one 120mm single tower to another isn't really that big. I'd say if you want to upgrade, do either just fans for less noise. Or go for 140mm single tower (U14S etc.) or dual tower (D14/15).
