I put definitely not because there is no reason to go from my r9 390 to say a gtx 1070 or an r9 490 because the gain wouldnt be that great, so i probably wont upgrade until the next generation after polaris/ pascal

Definitely upgrading, don't know if it'll be to Pascal/Polaris. I want a new GPU so I can run a higher res monitor, but I don't know if it'll be worth it to get these new GPU's.

If they're a decent step up from my 970s then upgrade and sell as always. If they're not much better then wait for the higher end refresh.

 

Knowing Nvidia,they will release their mid range GPUs first before the high end one.

I need new GPU generation because even my 980 Ti is not powerful enough to run 3440x1440 in the most demanding games like Witcher 3 at comfortable framerate. SLI is not reasonable and very expensive option (second GPU is only half of a cost, I would have to change PSU, mobo, cpu cooler, case, everything basically). This time I am going back to red team since my monitor happens to have FreeSync. It wasn't really my choice to get FreeSync, getting this particular monitor was just the best option on the ultrawide market and I got FreeSync by coincidence  

 

I am counting for something that will give me significant performance increase over 980 Ti, and I also hope that 14nm process will decrease heat and allow good temps at low fan speeds and low noise levels, finally.

You'll have to wait for Vega for that which is due in Q4 i think.

I know that, even more likely Q1 than Q4. But this is not a bad thing actually, I will have time to get myself together after spending so much on monitor, I couldn't afford new GPU at the moment anyway.

I plan on buying a one of the initial top tier pascal/polaris cards, but I won't if it's not much better than my 980ti/970sli.  Vega cards should double the 970's, but you never know.  I don't want to hold out until Vega, but I might just have to.

I am very sure from 75% better or more is worth it to me but I think Vega may be to pricey when it arrives...

Currently have a Radeon 7770 Ghz edition with just 1 GB of onboard memory.

 

Planning to get a Polaris 11 (probably, I guess it depends on cost) mainly for increased memory (will go for 4GB at least), hdmi 2.0 for better 4k support  and hevc encode/decode in hardware.

This will make my current system better suited for a 32"+ 4K monitor - planning to replace my two 24" monitors with one mainly to get rid of monitor borders in the center of my view. The better quality (IPS panels) compared to the TN panels on both current monitors will also be a plus.

I'm currently running a laptop with a GTX 960M, I no longer have a desktop and won't for several years, so it's not like I have a choice in whether I upgrade or not.

75% definitely, but I bet pascal/polaris is gonna be less than 20% better than current gen.
