OBS Recording

• CPU- Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor
• GPU- EVGA GeForce GTX 960 2GB FTW ACX 2.0+ Video Card
• RAM-16GB
• Storage-500GB SSD
• Monitor-60Hz 21.5'

I plan to record(not live stream) with OBS. Smaller demanding games I know I'll be able to record without any noticeable frame drops. But for higher demanding games such as GTAV or the newest titles such as the Division, BO3, Fallout4, etc, would I be able to record without ingame noticeable frame drop? I don't expect to be able to record at max settings but I don't want my game to look like crap either. (So basically somewhere in the middle) And hopefully you can give an idea of how many frames I will need to sacrifice.

Obs uses cpu so if it is a gpu intensive game you will have no issue whatsoever. But if it is really cpu intensive I am not sure

Use OBS Studio, much better quality than the standard OBS (both free)

You shouldn't experience noticeable frame drops

Though Dxtory is another great option

There is no quality difference in both OBS Studio and OBS... They use the exact same x264 encoder libraries.

idk then, i switched from obs to studio i saw a real nice quality

perhaps try recording using shadowplay? (or instant replay... they changed the name)

OBS has the option to use NVENC just like shadowplay does and its just as low impact as Shadowplay. Just change the setting!
