Nexus 7 or iPad Mini?

nkucz
Go to solution Solved by whatthe_fuzz,

no....touche

trust me, its amazing....

i bought one immediately when they launched (i still have the old 8 gig :P) and it was my first nexus device. it really makes you love android

Now I would usually go right to the Nexus 7 because I'm not a big apple guy, however the Nexus 7 seems a little goofy, the screen seems kind of small and long and thing, also the bezels on the top and bottom are HUGE. Anyone who owns one, is it weird to hold and use? I'm mainly going to be using it for youtube, searching the web for random things, and social networking... thoughts?

Which gen of Nexus 7? If you're talking about second gen then go with the Nexus 7.  ^_^ You would only go with the iPad Mini if you don't want to leave the Apple ecosystem.

Case = Bitfenix Prodigy, Motherboard = P8Z77 - I Deluxe, CPU = 3570k @ 4.2GHz, RAM = 2x 8GB G-Skill Ripjaws, GPU = Sapphire 7950 Boost Edition, Storage = 256GB Samsung 840 Pro.

newest Nexus 7 BY FAR.

The customization and the features provided are so vast i have no idea why anyone would pick an apple product.

also, the nexus can fit in one hand comfortably if you have some large mitts like myself. whereas the mini is just awkward and wide

Not to mention how much more powerful the hardware is in the nexus 7, plus its dirt cheap!

I had an IPad mini then moved to the new Nexus 7. My thoughts afterwards are the IPad mini is a better device than the Nexus 7 for work use. The slightly larger screen and aspect ratio make it better for reading email, webpages, and viewing documents. The Nexus 7 though is a much better media consumption device, video looks much better and its a much better mobile gaming device.

so for watching youtube videos it would be better? probably what I will mostly be doing, and social networking of course

Nexus 7's are cool and all but EVGA just announced a $199 competitor to the nexus 7, no word on release though

I havn't checked how they stack up against the 2nd gen nexus 7 but I've only heard good things, The nexus 7 comes with a much better resoloution though (1920 x 1200 vs 1280 X 800)

i know Linus loves his One, but i would tell you to wait and see what you think of vanilla android.

HTC Sense (the version of android on the One) and Vanilla Android (Nexus devices) are TOTALLY different!

so if you love the Nexus 7's feel and atmosphere then i would hold off and wait for the Nexus 5

OP if you haven't already brought the Nexus, consider the Mini.

You get Apple quality, everything works & it works buetifully, the app store is great & the smaller form factor makes typing with your thumbs easy in landscape.

The screen doesn't pixelize & it holds up to scratches really really well.

I dont think android is a good OS for tablets YET (my opinion) but its honestly up to you. Both machines are pretty much identical apart from the looks and the Mini wins in that department.
