Upscaled from 1080p maybe, and probably at 30FPS.

The performance is really nothing to write home about - though it is an improvement on the PS4.

(a 5 year old laptop is 'capable of 4K', for the likes of Facebook games etc)

Almost as cool as my temps

Probably more likely that it will be able to playback 4K content. Not likely that it will be capable of 4K gaming.

But this shit can't be real.. 4k on console?! wtf? 4K?!?!

:o

This is impossible.. at least... CONSOLES CAN'T BE READY FOR 4K!. PC's over 1000$ can struggle at 4k (some games not all.)

No, way. Consoles can't be ready for 4k gaming.

That can't happen and won't happen.. like wtf, there is a reason why there is PCMasterRace? right? to kill consoles.

Not the Playstation. 5, but more of the 4.5. I've heard some call it the "ps4k". I don't really like that. It's not like it will run on amazing graphics at 4k at 60fps. More like low on 4k at 30fps

The smartest idiot you will ever find

Are you uh, being sarcastic?

The 'PS5' will be in a completely different league to a gaming PC.

You know how some phones have 2K/4K displays? And you can 'game' on them?

You will NOT be playing the Witcher 3 at 4K with high settings and AA at 60 FPS - more like all those indie games sony is obsessed with.

It's almost certainly just going to be media playback at 4K. not gaming. Very different computing requirements.

Indie games will run just fine at 4K, maybe even natively without upscaling.

Haha, this is so outrageous I think they only put it up for April fools :) We all know that consoles may be capable of 4K but probably not whilst gaming at all. Maybe when watching Netflix or movies though... Blue Ray or up-scaling?

4k is just the output resolution to the monitor, PC graphics have the ability to output 4k already via displayport. Adding 4k support only means that is the resolution capability, just like the PS4 can output 1080p, doesn't mean it plays games at that resolution, it often plays them at sub 1080p resolutions and upscales. It should be capable of 4k video output from h264 and h256 but that doesn't mean it can have sufficient performance to push a AAA game at that. Quite a lot of less graphically intense games can run at 4k, they could today if PS4 supported the output but alas it doesn't.

It doesn't mean a lot really as a a rumour, means even less than it does on PC with GPU support because its much less likely on console to have games output at that resolution.
