So I was shopping for a new GPU earlier and came across this...

http://www.cclonline.com/product/206619/R9-380-GAMING-2G/Weekly-Deals/MSI-AMD-Radeon-R9-380-GAMING-2GB-Graphics-Card-PCI-Express-3-0-x16-2-x-DVI-DisplayPort/HDMI/VGA2908-DOTW/

MSI R9 380 2GB Gaming for £130 delivered (if you take economy shipping, £3.95 for 2-3 day) from a reputable seller?! I was waiting on a good deal to come along on a 4GB model but this is a great deal... Worth waiting on a 4GB or grab this now?

If you're looking into 2014/2015 or later AAA titles at 1080p, I wouldn't consider anything less than 4GB at this point.

Thats the thing, not a huge gamer. Usually play mech warrior online (which I can almost max out on an R7 360...) but playing something like GTA V at 1080p at a decent detail (Medium - High details) would be something I plan to do. I'm not going to be trying to be like wanting ultra everything as I know I can't afford that ahah

So you guys would say no deal to this and wait it out for a 4GB?

In order to really crank up textures, shadows and possibly AA, you want 3-4GB

if you're willing to turn down effects, the 2gb card is fine, but then you wont be getting a great gaming experience anyway `-`

most games already use more than 2gb vram nowadays at high/ultra settings

Fair enough! Any ideas on good deals of any 4GB 960s or 380s? UK based!

i recommend getting the 380 over the 960

its just better in almost everyway, performance wise

£160 for the XFX seems like a nice deal... I wanted the MSI because I was planning to plastidip the red parts to gold to match my build. Something like this but more gold than copper.MSI-Intros-GeForce-GTX-970-Golden-Editio

Don't tempt me now...

I'm being serious. The 380 plays most modern AAA games better at 900p anyway. 60 fps is more important yo me than eye candy, and the 380 4gb has problems running modern AAA games at 1080p 60 fps. You will still be getting much better image quality than consoles.

well before u really set sight on the 4gb card or 2gb card

let me tell you something

although the 380 comes with 4gb and 2gb version

you'll be less likely to touch the 3rd and 4th gb in the card if you get the 4gb one

but its there if you ever need it

my justification: in order to stay at a decent fps, you'll have to crank down settings, which lessens the vram usage

but having 4gb is just like having more inventory slots in your game, its never wrong `-`

and you never know when you'll need it

the 380 does have the horsepower to run some games that require 2gb+ vram, so there's that

but probably not full 4gb

its fine to buy a 2gb card, but you might have to turn down a feature that you like in games just to stay within 2gb vram

because exceeding the vram is bad `-`

Okay here's another option... R7 370 4GB... That much worse than a R9 380 2GB? Enough of an upgrade from the poop that is the R7 360?

just no, its a step down from 380

if you run 900p on 1080p screen just for eye candy

my eyes would be blind before i can see the "eye-candy" effects

always play games at native res whenever possible

Yeah, I think a 4GB 380 is where I want to be, I shouldn't cheap out now, just wait till its in my budget.

If you aim to max out everything you need something better than 970/390 but if you just want it to look nice but not setting all to max then the 380 will do great! :D (MWO probably wont need more than 2GB but other games may...)
