How to Overclock a Q6600 on a Asus P5kpl-cm MB?

I want to overclock my cpu, but I can't find anyone that has done it with the same Motherboard I have.

 

CPU: Q6600

Cooler: Arctic Freezer Pro7 Rev2 

MB: Asus P5KPL-CM

Ram: 4(2x2gb) 800mhz ram

First of all...

 

• Don't OC with that cooler, get liquid cooling for the Q6600, it's extremely hard to OC if you're on air

slowly bump up the blk and add voltage when needed until your temps get to high (above 75c) or your voltage hits 1.4 ish volts

I linked a guide that someone made to him, that should explain more in-depth than that. Also, he has to underclock RAM first before he fries it

Linus used the same cooler on his Scrapyard Wars Season 1 PC.

im using a q700 and a asus pk5e-wifi and i was able to get 3.5ghz.

i recomend using this lga775/771 overclocking guide:

you can't increase tha BLK on non extreme core2s, how you overclock them  is by raising the bus speed.

He didn't overclock too far though, just enough to get better Cinebench scores. remember that

So this guide is very detailed, I will try it. Does it work well with air coolers?

i did it with a hyper 212 so yes.
