GTX 970 or R9 390

So i'm planning on building a couple PCs (i have another thread for that) but what i want to know is what people recommend between the R9 390 and the GTX 970, without taking price into consideration what card should i use. With the PCs i plan on gaming, editing, and recording/streaming (i know i'm lame but whatever). i need one that can take a beating and that will last the longest

Cards from AMD tend to age better. But the GTX 970 does have Shadowplay which is a great recording software.

Performance-wise, they're about the same. People here like to recommend the R9 390 over the GTX 970 but they both trade blows.

So at the end of day, both choices are equally good.

Both choices are good, but you are wanting to record with GTX 970 as you can use shadowplay to record your gameplay.

Generally in the majority of games the r9 390 edges out the 970 by up to 5% ish. There are some games that the 970 wins in but for the most part the 390 is better. As well, it has got more vram for future proofing and AMD cards age better.

For the 970: Shadowplay and power consumption.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

I would recommend a 970 for the reason that many games are optimized for NVIDIA.

Good luck!
